San
Francisco has an inventory of elegantly designed, but
poorly maintained public schools. They date from the
1920's and 1930's. The Facilities Management Division
of the Unified School District is responsible for upgrading
the facilities.
Kirk Miller acted as a consulting
project manager for the addition of kindergartens, the
upgrading and additions of kitchens, and the enlargement
and addition of playgrounds to 10 urban schools.
He was responsible for analyzing
the constraints that the existing buildings placed on
renovations, interviewing faculty and staff researching
and creating the design program for the spaces, over-seeing
the design, cost estimating, bidding, construction oversight,
and helping with the start-up usage of the spaces. |
